You can install the dash-to-dock extension from the gnome extensions site: extensions.gnome.org/extension/307/dash-to-dock/
By default it creates the sidebar hidden on the left (move the mouse pointer to the left edge of the screen and it should show.
To get it to show always, do the following:
1. Refresh the extension page in your browser once it is installed
2. Click the settings icon, beside the on/off button
3. Enable 'Dock is fixed and always visible'
The sidebar should now show always. I think that's what you're looking for, is it?
Thank you. That was exactly what I was looking for. But I didn't need to install the gnome-tweak-tool. After installing the extension by clicking on the on-Button I refreshed the site of the extension and a settings Icon appeared on the left of the on-Button. The settings-window appeared and I clicked on 'Dock is fixed and always visible'
