I just installed Fedora 19 and I need to install GCC. I have GCC (4.8.1) already on my computer in my documents. Also, how do I then install it and use it to compile C++ code.

Do you also have the package gcc-c++-4.8.1-1? If you have it, you can compile with

$> g++ <infile>

$>g++ -o <outfile> <infile>

see man g++

For some years package ccache is also available and speed up compiling time by using a cache.
