Nvidia Vs. Nouveau
Hey i have to run the nvidia driver from rpmfusion to get my hdmi working properly. But somehow the nvidia driver has a worse performance than the nouveau. With the nouveau i can run every stupid effect kwin offers without any hassle. With the nvidia driver even moving windows feels slow for the first 5 seconds (no tranparency or anything else enabled). Sounds stupid but it feels like the driver is sleeping then after 5 seconds gets his coffee and does the job properly. This thing happens with every effect kwin offers again and again. I am running the akmod-driver on my nvidia 9200M with the PAE-Kernel (installed kernel-PAE-devel like discribed somewhere). OS is Fedora 19 with KDE 4.10.5. I am thankful for any suggestion.

Back when I had an nvidia, I noticed the same thing (the nouveau drivers were not nearly as good as they are now).
I think the problem is that the nvidia driver is very aggressive in ramping down the clockspeed of graphics card. It waits to see if the load can be accomplished using slow clocks, and once it realizes it is still taxing the system, it ramps up. You can test this theory by changing the power saving options in the nvidia control center place.
