The touchpad on my MBA only registers the left click button. After searching the web, I've found that the patch from bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=60181 might solve the problem. However I'm not sure how to go about applying it. Need some guidance. Thank you.

It's not incredibly detailed but I try and cover some of the basics around patching the kernel here - http://mattoncloud.org/2013/07/18/fedora-19-on-a-macbook-air-2013-model/.

Hello,

You have to apply the patch by yourself and rebuild the kernel... You can find more informations here fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel. The wiki has a lot of information about how to do this... Also did u had any freezes, high temperatures, performance issues, unable to make the hdmi to work or any other issues? If yes let me know...

I have followed the steps on fedoraproject.org/wiki/Building_a_custom_kernel but the touchpad problem persists. Probably because I'm rebuilding a 3.9.9 kernel instead of the 3.9.8 kernel. I guess I'll just wait out for the next kernel update. As for other issues, wireless and sound don't work. The machine gets rather hot but after implementing some power-saving features, the heat is reduced. Closing the lid also lead to a black screen upon reopening. (read that it is a brightness issue somewhere)

Touchpad issue still not resolved even after updating to kernel 3.10; it should be solved with that kernel update.. Did not find additional options under 'mouse and touchpad settings', no 2 finger scroll or anything, just 'General' and 'Mouse'. Any advice?

Somehow i missed your reply,

In order to make your mba to have should u must the following entries /etc/asound.conf:

defaults.pcm.card 1 defaults.pcm.device 0 defaults.ctl.card 1

About the temperature issue, what is the output of the dmesg?

Did you see in log something like the following?

ata1.00: failed command: WRITE FPDMA QUEUED ata1.00: cmd 61/08:f0:10:8c:c2/00:00:0b:00:00/40 tag 30 ncq 4096 out res 40/00:00:00:00:00/00:00:00:00:00/00 Emask 0x4 (timeout) ata1.00: status: { DRDY }

About the touchpad issue, in a few days the patch will be merged with kernel 3.10, i think, so you will not have to build it from the source.

The modification of /etc/asound.conf allows audio to be played through headphones or speakers connected via the jack; still no audio from laptop's speakers. As for the log, didn't encounter the lines you've mentioned. What I got was these:

$ dmesg |grep ata1.00
[    3.070146] ata1.00: unexpected _GTF length (8)
[    3.070318] ata1.00: ATA-8: APPLE SSD SD0128F, A222021, max UDMA/133
[    3.070324] ata1.00: 236978176 sectors, multi 1: LBA48 NCQ (depth 31/32), AA
[    3.071005] ata1.00: unexpected _GTF length (8)
[    3.071127] ata1.00: configured for UDMA/133
