Intel/ATI switchable graphics

I have a HP probook 4740s and would really like to use fedora 19, the problem i am having is that the switchable graphics is not functioning as it should, only the Intel graphics is working with the system, but the ATI GPU is also powered on, the laptop is heating up, and battery lasts only 1h 30min...

Is there any possibility that i could make this work?

If you only want to switch off the AMD card, all you have to do is to write this in a terminal (in root) :

echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch

If you want to automatically disable it on boot, create a "rc.local" file in /etc/rc.d/ (in root), then write in it :

#!/usr/bin/bash

echo OFF > /sys/kernel/debug/vgaswitcheroo/switch

Next, type in your terminal :

chmod +x /etc/rc.d/rc.local

The best way to do that is to install PowerXpress which comes bundled in ATI proprietary drivers and then shutdown your ATI card using

aticonfig --px-igpu

here are the steps that worked for me to install ATI drivers
