I installed FC18 from the DVD. I gave an admin passwd when requested.. all went fine. when I started the installed systemn and updated all packages, I started a terminal session as user (admin rights) and when typing su I gave the root passwd (entered at the beginning of the install process)... no way! psw rejected I performed the total install process twice with different psw.... no change how can I fix this? tks Daniel

Did you look if you used different keyboard layouts during installation and later on?

An administrator user is not the same as a root user. An administrator user can simply be one with sudo rights, in which case it's possible that the root user is disabled.
