My Alps Touchpad is detected as PS2 Generic mouse on Dell Inspiron 15R; therefore two finger scrolling and other touchpad features are disabled. Does anybody know detailed instructions to patch the kernel (if necessary) in Fedora 18? I found this (I can't post links) but I am having trouble installing.

Error! Bad return status for module build on kernel: 3.8.9-200.fc18.x86_64 (x86_64)

Today I rebooted my computer (after a accumulating some updates in the last days) with Fedora 20, and... tahrah... touchpad worked as supposed!!, even touchpad settings are available. Two finger scrolling, natural scrolling, everything. Finally an update that I needed.

Unfortunately for news Alps Touchpad is quite difficult make the drives for Linux kernel, the best place to follow development of ALPS v4 (thought) is : and mailing list,

Once this drives enter in upstream kernel, you have your problem fixed, because you may ask by opening a bugzilla bug to Fedora kernel team, to patch Fedora kernel with the upstream patch.
