I think this should be simple enough:
You might have to correct permissions to get your desktop working properly. This will include file permissions, ownership (user and group), and selinux contexts.
Please read the following manuals thoroughly before proceeding:
man chown
man restorecon
man fstab
man rsync
man cp
Lastly, always have your data backed up! I'd suggest you only delete the original home partition after you've successfully migrated to the new one.
