I'm using Fedora 18 (Spherical Cow) with Cinnamon as my DE.

I'd like to right-click on an image and select the "Set As Desktop Background" option to, well, set the image as my desktop background. It is a huge pain in the ass to open the image with Shotwell, then pressing Control+B to set it as my background.

Just copy the image to pictures folder. Then it is simple to set wall paper directly. using desktop background application.

Nautilus does not yet provide a right click context menu to set images as backgrounds. You can file an RFE upstream at http://bugzilla.gnome.org

You'll either have to use the advice given here, or use shotwell as you already know.
