Dear fellow Community members and ask.fpo users,

as discussed over the past three years, for example in posts like this one and that one, users of the ask platform (askbot) were missing modernization, bug-fixes, and enhancements.

The Fedora Project has been looking for alternatives for a while. Is it finally time for a change?

Yes, it is time for change! Change is good! The current instance of askbot will be replaced with a modern forum powered and hosted by Discourse in the near future.

Over the past two to three years (maybe longer) the Fedora team has been elaborating alternatives for the current Q&A forum provided under https://ask.fedoraproject.org.

In the next couple of days, with the release of Fedora 30, the Fedora Project will switch over its ask forum to a multilingual Discourse instance.

A preview of the new ask forum can be found under https://askbeta.fedoraproject.org. Once the new ask forum can be reached under ask.fedoraproject.org, the old askbot will be moved to askbot.fedoraproject.org and set to read-only.

An official announcement is in the making, so keep an eye on https://fedoramagazine.org/

The beta site responds wonderfully fast! I am a bit bewildered by the interaction format though.

Have you had a chance to read the "start here" posts yet?
