Fedora 29, KDE Plasma, plasmashell segfaulting

asked 2019-03-31 09:25:34 -0500

After rebooting a Fedora 29 system, last rebooted a week ago, when trying to log in the KDE Plasma desktop fails with the message in dmesg: plasmashell, segfault at id 0. I created a new account on the system and tried to log in with it, and it threw the same message; that seems to indicate it is not a local configuration problem in the original account, but perhaps some sort of recent update or library conflict. Any idea what might be happening?

Gnome does work on the system, so it is at least usable. Thanks....

Probably it happened after an update of the system?

Can you tell us what kernel you use:

uname -r

Or even boot into an older kernel from the Grub menu.

KDE plasma seems to have several issues atm. Please visit bugzilla.redhat.com and check, if your problem is listed there.
