I am upgrading using

sudo dnf update --refresh

After I restart, I am presented with the last three kernel versions: (examples, not actual numbers) 5.02 5.01 4.20

Sometimes, after an upgrade, I am unable to START after I unlock the disk, so I have to choose the previous kernel.

After unlocking the disk, I get the Fedora logo. The logo loads fully and then nothing. At all. Just the logo.

I waited and nothing. Just logo. No log in screen.

How do I troubleshoot and/or fix this?

Fedora 29 + Gnome Lenovo P72 Nvidia drivers already installed.

When you see the logo, press ESC. It will switch to console boot output. There will a hint whats causing it.

The problem is this: Kernel 5.0 requires updated drivers.

I was running NVIDIA driver version 415.27 and couldn't start into Kernel 5.

I downloaded the update from the NVIDIA site and installed it.

Booted into Kernel 5, no issues.
