What programs do I need to install to have F29 read IOS (12.2)? I want to get this right before trying to install whatever I read on the net, my main aim is to transfer photos to my computer.

TY, did the install <sudo dnf="" install="" libmobiledevice="" ifuse=""> and found the iphone camera folder. However, when I try to open the folder it is empty. Is there a dependency that I am missing that is causing this?

Problem solved: on iPhone go into Settings, Reset, Reset Location & Privacy, once that is done the iPhone camera folder opens with all the pics...from there Shotwell did the rest.

It was an iPhone issue, not Fedora....

Thank for the information. I did the install <libimobiledevice ifuse=""> but Shotwell is telling me that the camera is being accessed by another application. Not sure about that unless there is some weird application on the iphone that I don't know about. Any ideas?

Figured this one out, disabled iMessage on the phone.

I know of two ways that work pretty well:

1.) simply use the file manager Nautilus to copy the pics from the iPhone to your Photo folder on your machine or network

2.) if you are using Shotwell, it has a function to import Photos from external sources like a camera or the iPhone to your photo library.

In order for your system to recognize an iPhone, you have to have the following packages (and their dependencies) installed:

libimobiledevice, ifuse

sudo dnf install libimobiledevice ifuse

will do it.
