Mouse keys (from Universal Access menu) stopped working in f29

Long before I started using fedora and gnome, I was a heavy user of the "Pointer Keys" feature of X Window. That was something I configured via the xkb X extension, and I could turn it on and off by hitting Shift-Numlock key combo, although in practice I left it always on because I never used the keypad for entering numbers or arrow keys.

When I started using f28 I found that a similar feature was available via the Universal Access menu but it couldn't be toggled on/off anymore with a key combination. As I wrote above this didn't matter to me much so I was happy.

Now I installed f29 on my laptop (as a test before upgrading my desktop which is my main computer), and I am shocked to find this feature is broken. The arrow labelled keys still move the pointer, but the keys that simulated clicking (ie. keys "5", "0", "+" and ".") seem to do nothing at all. What happened? This is a showstopper for me in terms of the upgrade. Please tell me there is a solution or at least this is a known issue and will be fixed in f30.
