Fedora29 - Optirun error - Could not load GPU driver

asked 2019-03-04 07:19:28 -0600

Hi,

I have a laptop with Fedora 29 installed. On this laptop, I have an Intel Integrated Graphics Controller and a dedicated Nvidia GPU. I wanted to use my GPU to play games so i decided to install Bumblebee. It worked fine until a few weeks ago. Now, every time I use the optirun command, I have this issue :

[user@hostname ~]$ optirun glxgears
[ 2309.658755] [ERROR]Cannot access secondary GPU - error: Could not load GPU driver
[ 2309.658805] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

or

[user@hostname ~]$ optirun -vvv glxgears
[ 2452.911296] [DEBUG]Reading file: /etc/bumblebee/bumblebee.conf

[ 2453.508283] [ERROR]Aborting because fallback start is disabled.

Does anyone have a solution ? I can provide my configuration files if its usefull.

Thanks a lot,

Thanks for your answer but I don't think it's the same problem... I have tried the same command as you but i have a different output.

[user@hostname ~]$ sudo modprobe -vv nvidia
modprobe: INFO: custom logging function 0x560bd1ea50b0 registered
insmod /lib/modules/4.20.12-200.fc29.x86_64/extra/nvidia/nvidia.ko.xz

When you $ lsmod | grep nouveau does it respond with nouveau, and if not post the output of $ lspci | grep -i -e 3d -e VGA -e nvidia

Here's the output of the first command :

[user@hostname ~]$ lsmod | grep nouveau
nouveau 2191360 1
ttm 110592 1 nouveau

mxm_wmi 16384 1 nouveau

And this is the output of the second one :

[user@hostname ~]$ lspci | grep -i -e 3d -e VGA -e nvidia
00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation 4th Gen Core Processor Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 06)
01:00.0 3D controller: NVIDIA Corporation GM107M [GeForce GTX 850M] (rev a2)
