"Accidently" deleted '.config' from my home directory.

Okay so, I "accidently" deleted my '/my/home/folder/.config when I meant to delete '/my/home/folder/.config/.conkyrc'. And for some odd reason I didn't get it up...Now every time I boot up I get a bunch of "'file.*rc' not configured or missing from .config". Everything boots fine otherwise, and the only thing that seems to have changed is all my user settings back to default.

My question is, is there a way to remove these Error messages? And is the file recoverable without a backup?

no backups usually means "more fun" :-P

temporally create a new user.

login to that new user so /home/newuser entries will be generated.

maybe save and delete olduser's .config to get a clean state.

as root copy over the new entries of .config from the new user to your old user.

as root chown -R olduser.olduser .config

login as old user to check if errors are still present.

remove the newuser

!!! get a backup strategy !!!
