The on-screen keyboard doesn't work in anything except Gnome

asked 2019-02-09 17:46:40 -0500

The on-screen keyboard doesn't show automatically like it does in gnome in apps like chrome or firefox. I used to use ubuntu before fedora and in ubuntu the keyboard came up automatically even in chrome. So I think there should be a solution to it but I couldn't find it. I'm running fedora 29 gnome on my samsung xe700t1c. I don't wanna go back to ubuntu guys. Please help.

I did not want to mention it in the answere, but you can use eekboard. It WAS part of Fedora earlier, but if you compile it yourself, it may work as a supplement until the offical problems are fixed. I have the same problem on my Surface Pro :(

a) it works only under wayland .. so install firefox-wayland to have osk support.

b) forget a) it's buggy and the bugreport has already been filed to mozilla and redhat . Sorry :)
