In W10 Virtualbox won't 'start' Fedora-29

asked 2019-02-06 19:48:35 -0500

I used Fedora-Cinnamon-LIve-x86_64-29-1.2.iso in the Virtualbox new, but after 'start' to install this Fedora, I get the message.

Virtualbox gives this message:

"Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Fedora.

Missing required extended CPUID exit support (VERR_NEM_INIT_FAILED).

AMD-V is not available (VERR_SVM_NO_SVM).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005) Component: ConsoleWrap Interface: IConsole {872da645-4a9b-1727-bee2-5585105b9eed}"

I'm stuck on definitions: what's CPUID? AMD-V? E_FAIL?

" AMD-V is not available " My guess is you have to at least enable virtulzation in your "bios" .

Look for something in your computer's BIOS called "Enable Virtualization Technology", or something like that. It's often turned off by default, and you need it to be able to run 64-bit guests.
