fedora 29 deja-dup restoration failed
I have created 2 back-ups of my home directory in two different locations. I used Deja-Dup from my Fedora 28 installation, yesterday I dropped some new hardware into the PC and thought " what the hell - let's do a fresh installation" So while the Fedora 29 image was downloading ( on another machine ) I ran Deja-Dup again so I could restore my files. Back-up completed, bootable USB created and away we go .... Installation was without incident, however Deja-Dup isn't included so ... Used the 'Software' catalogue and installed it . So far so good. Opened the application, set the external drive as the back-up location then went to restore my documents/files/photos. After a long time 'preparing' the restoration I read "Restore Failed - failed to read /home/Me/.cache/deja-dup/tmp/duplicity-TldFyk-tempdir/mktemp-us6E81-1:(<type'exceptions.ioerror'>, IOError(CRC check failed ..." Which at the time was no biggie, because = 2 backups. The other also failed. So I have a brand new install with no data. What can I do to restore my stuff ?
---- it's a Fedora 29 issue. I have a laptop running on Ubuntu, it too has Deja-Dup 38.1. I connected the laptop to the PC back-up and it's restoring all the files/folders to an attached USB drive It's a bit outrageous that there isn't more attention paid to actually using a back-up to get the data back
this is the entire Restore Failed message : - Failed to read /home/myhomedirectory/.cache/deja-dup/tmp/duplicity-xxFz3b-tempdir/mktemp-me4jEt-1: (<type 'exceptions.ioerror'="">, IOError('CRC check failed 0xef7b1959 != 0x85508a9eL',), <traceback object="" at="" 0x7fc3e26d0ef0="">)
It's Deja-Dup 38.1

Deja dup is crashing. That’s bad and worth a bug report.
