How do I troubleshoot my non-working trackpad?
I have a Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga 11e that works perfectly with Fedora 29 running linux kernel 4.19.14-300, but when I upgraded my linux kernel as a part of a normal dnf upgrade
and booted into the new kernel the trackpad no longer registers. Touch screen works fine, and I can plug in an external mouse, but it's as if the trackpad is no longer detected.
4.19.14-300 is now 3rd on my GRUB list of kernels, meaning 1 more upgrade and it will automatically drop that kernel as a boot option. How do I prevent this to buy myself more time to solve the issue?
How would I go about debugging this issue? Usually newer kernels increase hardware support, not the other way around.
Thanks.
For the time being I downgraded my Kernel to kernel-4.17.19-200.fc28.x86_64 and it worked. Need a comprehensive solution to Synaptics Touchpad and Tracking Dot problem with latest Kernels. Tried with Ubuntu too, the same problem arose with 4.18 onwards.
How do you keep kernel 4.17-19-200 from being automatically deleted when a new kernel is installed?
