WiFi Drivers Won't Register

asked 2019-01-03 06:07:44 -0600

So I've seen this problem asked quite a bit, and wanted to figure it out on my own. But I am at a complete loss, if I open the driver files in the terminal, and do sudo make install, i get error 2.

[root@localhost rtlwifi_new-extended]# make install
make -C /lib/modules/4.19.8-300.fc29.x86_64/build M=/home/user/Downloads/rtlwifi_new-extended modules
make[1]: *** /lib/modules/4.19.8-300.fc29.x86_64/build: No such file or directory. Stop.
make: *** [Makefile:87: all] Error 2

I install the packages, I can't do a "make install" so I convert the files to RPM and use the Software program. Doesn't work. I don't know how to uninstall drivers that are already there and potentially incompatible. I'm not asking for a step by step guide, I'm essentially brand new to linux, and I want to be able to figure things out on my own. But am asking, and would greatly appreciate opinions. Thank you.

@N.Elefantis , to compile you need some depencies like , ggc, gcc-c++, cpp, kernel-headers kernel-devel, git, dkms install it althought I think your pc/latptop doesn't recognize your wifi card RTL8723DE and here is the solution -> wifi-device-realtek-rtl8723de-is-not-detected-by-fedora-28/
