First answerer is basically correct; you can't resolve the name 'mirrors.fedoraproject.org' to an IP address. This is probably a local issue on that machine. A few questions:

1. What DNS server (s) are you configured to use on that machine; 'cat /etc/resolv.conf'? (You don't have to show us, but you need the answer for the next step.)

2. Can you ping the DNS server(s) in /etc/resolv.conf? You could add the (Google) nameserver mentioned above to /etc/resolv.conf with a line like:

nameserver 8.8.8.8

and retry the update.

1. To test name resolution, you can do (the 'host' command is included in the 'bind-utils' package, and, unfortunately, is not always installed by default):

host mirrors.fedoraproject.org

If you have another machine that is otherwise working on the network, you could try and resolve this address from that machine and then just add it to the bottom of your local /etc/hosts file:

<resolved_ip> mirrors.fedoraproject.org</resolved_ip>

First of all be sure your network works. Can you surf the internet? Can you ping 8.8.8.8 ?
