How cab I remove the most recent update 4.17-12 from the dual-boot list? It gives a blank screen after login. 4.17-9 works just fine even with the most recent updates to it.

Hi,

I does not look like your system is up-to-date. kernel-4.17.12 is somewhat old and the 4.17 series is unmaintained by now.

I would suggest you update your system and install the newest kernel (4.18.13 as of today). (sudo dnf --refresh update).

But before you do so, make sure dnf keeps enough kernels so you still have your old 4.17.9 that boots - in case the newer ones fail to boot just as 4.17.12 did.

You will have to increase the number of installonly_limit= in the /etc/dnf/dnf.conf file. (default is 3, maybe increase it to 5 or 6). This measure can be temporarily and you can go back to 3 after you verified that 4.18.x boots ok.

If you want to check what versions of the kernel packages are currently installed on your system, run rpm -qa kernel.
