I installed Fedora28 on my MacBook Air (7,1) yesterday. However, every time I put it to sleep (by closing the lid), it seemed to fail to wake up (screen was dark). After some troubleshooting, I realized that Its waking up just fine, and its just the backlight that is failing to come back on. I was going to start troubleshooting the backlight issue, when I realized that /sys/class/backlight/ is completely empty, when it should have an intel_backlight sub-directory. Further debugging from there led me to the realization that instead of using the 'intel' X driver, its using the 'vesa' X driver.

lspci shows the following:

00:02.0 VGA compatible controller: Intel Corporation HD Graphics 6000 (rev 09)

The i915 kernel driver is loaded, but not in use:

# lsmod | grep i915
i915 1998848 0
i2c_algo_bit 16384 1 i915
drm_kms_helper 200704 1 i915
drm 454656 2 i915,drm_kms_helper
video 45056 1 i915

I tried creating /etc/X11/xorg referencing the intel driver, but now X refuses to start at all:

[ 422.181] (II) Module intel: vendor="X.Org Foundation"

This is where I'm currently stuck, as I'm confused why its behaving this way.
