What controls the Fedora 28 Desktop
Ever since the DNF Update yesterday (30/09/18) I cannot get my desktop to display? Just a grey background colour.
I am running Fedora 28 64 bit Xfce spin..

Are you able to switch to another tty terminal? Try CTRL+ALT+F2 after booting to the login screen. From there you can revert the update with
dnf history undo
followed by the last update number. Can you boot an older kernel and see if the desktop starts? You can change to a console (Strg +Alt +F3), login and display and/or undo the last dnf transaction(s).
Strg is the German word for the Ctrl key.
Most likely related to your display hardware and some third party kernel module. There is no problem running vanilla XFCE fedora 28 after the latest update on my system.
