VPN Indicator in Status Bar Not Working in Fedora 28 GNOME

Recently, the VPN indicator on the GNOME status bar in Fedora 28 stopped working. That is, I am connected to a VPN, but the status bar does not indicate that with an icon. There appears to be a bug report on this, but no traction.

In addition, the GNOME status display that shows up after clicking the upper right corner indicates that I am affirmatively not connected to a VPN. This is despite the fact that Network Manager correctly shows that I am connected to a VPN.

This behavior makes it difficult to ensure you are protected at any given time via VPN.

I would file this bug again against Fedora 28. Fedora 27 is not receiving much attention anymore (usually, as soon as a new release (r+1) reaches some Beta status, the (r-1) release is neglected.

And, it's back as of 10.05.2018. Latest update brought it back.

Old Post.

Not exactly sure what did it, but I believe the latest update (09.24.2018) fixed this issue. In all events, it is now back.
