Fedora-Xfce-Live-x8664-28-1.1.iso sha256sum ok

Windows 7: FedoraMediaWriter-win32-4.1.1.exe +Select Custom

Installed on Kingston DataTraveler ( DT50#1) 32GB 3.1

Prepared ( DT50_#2 ): 2 Partitions 15GiB each done with DVD GUI GParted Live

Using ( DT50#1 ) target ( DT50#2 ): Unmounted sdc1,2

parted /dev/sdc (parted) toggle 1 boot ( to make sdc1 partition boot )

Print ( DT50_#2 ) to confirm: Size 15.7GB primary fat32 Flags: boot

( DT50#1 ): sudo dnf install livecd-tools

sudo livecd-iso-to-disk --home-size-mb 2048 --overlay-size-mb 4095 Fedora-Xfce-Live-x8664-28-1.1.iso /dev/sdc1

Initializing persistent overlay... Initializing persistent /home Encrypting persistent home.img

Enter passphrase for /dev/loop4: Mypassphrase ( 13 letters 1 number ) Target device is now set up with a Live image!

Result with DVD GUI GParted Live ( DT50#2 ) to confirm sdc1: Size is 14.65GiB Used is 7.28GiB

Booting the target ( DT50#2 ):

(1 OF 2) A start job is running for LSB: init script for live image ( xmin / 5min 4s )

(2 OF 2) A start job is running for Hold Until boot process finishes up ( xmin / no limit)

I have to wait 5min! Then: Started Light Display Manager

GUI Prompt to enter username and password ( other...): I tried many combinations ( liveuser, root, nothing, with/without Mypassphrase ) Not able to go beyond that prompt! Where was I supposed to choose a username?

Today, reformated the two USB ( DT50#1 ) and ( DT50#2 ), reinstalled with the same steps described. Noticed that after the 5 min wait (1 OF 2) ,(2 OF 2): FAILED to start LSB, continued to the GUI prompt, no default username displayed. No username, no password: I selected login; then entered a username with Mypassphrase... Not able to go beyond that prompt!

Today02, more info. Booting ( DT50#1 ): No ( 1 OF 1) ( 1 OF 2 ), no wait 5min, no ''prompt'', no need to enter a username neither a password, direct to desktop!

Booting ( DT50#2 ): The only choice is: ''Others...'' If I select ''Others...'', no scroll down choices, no selection ''Live System User'' option.

Stuck with those 2 boxes: Enter your username & Enter your password. Response: Incorrect password, try again... Well, I tried again! Since I can not go beyond that prompt, I do not have access to the terminal.

No purpose to carry Fedora on USB without saving installed packages & personnal files...

Today03 Is this a solution? Not using --home-size-mb 2048

Result: No more (1 OF 2) & (2 of 2) & Wait ( xmin/ 5min 4s ) & Deadend prompt.

sudo livecd-iso-to-disk --format --overlay-size-mb 4096 Fedora-Xfce-Live-x86_64-28-1.1.iso /dev/sdc1 Result ( DT50#2 ): Default ext4 Size: 28.87GiB Used: 1.88GiB Unused: 26.99GiB Flags: boot

No need (parted) command. The installed livecd-tools stays persistent after unpluged ( DT50#2 ).

DVD GUI GParted: Resize sdc1 and create a second partition for data.

Notice: because ext4, --overlay-size-mb can be more than 4095.

"Live System User", no password. Actually, at the login window, just hit login, and accepts the already displayed user name.image description
