Unable to see compiler error messages in Fedora 28 in color

I only see black and white error messages on my terminal. what is the remedy for this? I am using the default gnome-terminal

Is your build system using Autotools, CMake or ninja? Often, coloured compiler messages are only enabled in ninja.

What compiler are you actually talking about? GCC?

Install colorgcc.

Also, I think GCC has an internal feature, try -fdiagnostics-color.

Example:

$ gcc -fdiagnostics-color=auto foo.c
