Cannot install updates

Hi. I am new here and kinda in a rush, but I'm having an issue. I have KDE Neon Fedora 28 or something like that. I am in love with the design behind this Fedora spin/slice/something/distro, but I've occured into an issue, and I have freshly installed this.

Updates - Discover program tells me that there are 842 updates, and when I click on Update All, it just quickly adds something like Tasks 0% and immediately vanishes, and the updates refresh, and it's still 842 updates, and then I click again on Update All and same thing happens, and it goes in a loop like this, and never updates...

I have no idea how to fix this, so I would really appreciate if someone could help me out :)

Welcome to Fedora!

This sounds like a really dumb UI bug to me, and honestly, I wouldn't mess with any GUI software managers when you have dnf.

Just open up a Terminal, type in the following to check for updates. If there is more than one thing listed here, there are updates available. You should have 842 of them if your GUI is not broken in that respect.

dnf check-update

Then, just run:

dnf update

Wait for a bit and it should be done. The updates should go down to 0 in the GUI too.

Hope that helps!

I also go with terminal. GUI isn't much convenient when it comes to update. And Welcome to Fedora. Great day.

You don’t need the dnf check-update step. Just run dnf update or dnf upgrade and it will check for updates and offer to install them (both commands are the same, upgrade has replaced update, however, update is still working.

You don't, but I would prefer to know what it's going to update before it does so. I was not aware that upgrade had replaced update, however, so thanks for telling me that!
