nvidia driver appears to crash after login

Last night I ran an update on my computer that has an nvidia GTX 1080. After the update, after the login screen appears and I enter my credentials, the entire screen goes blank. Booting into run level 2 and looking through journalctl logs of the last reboot, I'm seeing some sort of reference to a null pointer exception. The specific message says something like "BUG: unable to handle kernel NULL pointer dereference at 0000000000000000000". Is this a known issue currently being worked on? I tried running "dnf downgrade xorg-x11-nvidia-drv", but got a message saying it couldn't do it due to conflicting packages and try running with "--allowerasing". Given the finicky nature of the nvidia drivers I'm hesitant to do so, but this problem completely prevents me from logging into my system.

Go ahead and file a bug report. This error has some history and has appeared before, but seemed to have been fixed in Nouveau. Maybe it's reappeared?

The supposed fix is implemented in Nouveau, so try that out.

This isn't really a solution, but I disabled rpmfusion-nonfree-nvidia-driver.repo in /etc/yum.repos.d, removed all nvidia packages. I then added the negativo fedora-nvidia repository at https://negativo17.org/nvidia-driver/ and followed the installation procedures there. The drivers from that respository appear to have fixed my problem. I would not like to consider this question as fixed since the drivers from the rpmfusion-nonfree-nvidia-driver.repo for me are still broken.
