Fedora 28 as a VirtualBox Guest - major performance issues

I experience serious performance issues when running Fedora 28 Workstation as a VirtualBox Guest OS. I use the latest VirtualBox version (5.2.16) with the official extension pack.

As Fedora 28 Workstation comes with VirtualBox Guest Additions pre-installed, the problem is not related to not having guest additions installed.

Screen refresh is extremely slow, just moving the mouse pointer is slow and lagging. It is impossible to use, plain and simple.

I use the same configuration with Debian 9 and it works as expected, with decent performance: 8192 MB RAM 3 CPUs Max Video memory and 3D Acceleration Enabled

Standard Settings for everything else.

I have the same issues (UI slow response) with same version of VirtualBox and Fedora. Could it be due to Gnome ? Cos I ran latest Ubuntu which has changed over to Gnome and surprisingly Ubuntu runs slow too. I have run Ubuntu as a guest previously and without a surprise Ubuntu performance was as close to the host (Windows 7)

Yes, looks like GNOME is that slow. Have Fedora 28 and VirtualBox 5.2.16, as well. Updating the packages did not help, so I switched to Xfce, where response times are fine again, although I have configured the guest with only one CPU and 1 GB RAM.

Same for Fedora 29. Thinkpad T460s, 8G. VirtualBox VM with 4G. Fedora GUI unusably slow. Firefox comes up, but entering an url impossible slow.

Just disable 3D Acceleration! Then it will be fast enough! Had same issue with Fedora 29..
