I upgraded to Fedora 28 and all of the sudden my desktop icons are missing.

I check out Gnome tweak tool and I find a missing section.

One Google search later, and I come to find that Gnome is the culprit.

I then install the shell-extension that supposedly brings back the icons but once they're back, they don't do anything.

I had launchers and select folders/files I specifically put on my desktop because that's largely its purpose.

What happened to my icons and why can't I do anything with the restored icons?

Additional Info:
*When I view the directory from file manager, I see everything as it should and everything launches correctly.
*I tried switching between Xorg and whatever comes as default now to see if that changed but it didn't.

Which gnome-shell version did you install?

@genodeflest Whichever one is the latest. I only got it recently. I got it from the Software app.
