Easiest way to share file between computers in network (KDE)

Hi all,

I need help sharing files between my machines in KDE.

First, I tried dropbox but it looks like dependencies and software itself is nautilus/gtk based, so I don't want to mess with dependencies right now. GoogleDrive integration or OneDrive are non existant, don't work or are outdated.

Which another very easy to setup way can I use to transfer files? I've read a few samba guides but they require lots of configuration and are quite outdated, plus I dont have that time to spare.

My laptop and pcs are in a network and I can ping each other successfully. Is there anything easy to do at all?

Hello R09, Try NFS (network file system), Or simply try FTP ( file transfer protocol)

Both are simple network file sharing method with very less packages and configuration.

The solution is NFS, one computer is your server, the other(s) are clients.

It requires a little bit of configuration but the web is full of instructions. After setting it up it perfectly integrates in your file manager.

Samba makes no sense of you don’t have any Windows machines involved.

Provided documentation is very old, libraries no longer exist under that name following such instructions. is NFS useful if I want to communicate both ways? i.e. both download and upload. these docs seem newer. I'll follow these: https://www.server-world.info/en/note...

Which "documentation is very old? Which package mentioned in my links above did you not find?

Both upload and download? think of it as if it was a windows share. You are sharing a directory on your computer in the network and let other computer read or read&write from and to it.
