I have installed Fed 28 XFCE4 spin on a notebook.

After some fiddling I ( wifi password not recognised. ) I managed to get it connected. Hardware support looks good and even the alt-F2 combo to power on'off the wifi hardware works fine. Great so far.

I now need to connect at a friends house , however, NetworkManager does not display the SSID of the LIvebox router. It does show several other APs in the vicinity.

I even tried connecting to "hidden network" but this also failed to connect.

I have confirmed the SSID and p/w from the router's web interface. ( Still matching the label on the underside of router ).

Subsequently trying connect again at home failed to authenticate and could not connect until I changed the router p/w again.

This all look buggy to me. Any suggestions?

Anything unusual about the SSID you want to connect to? Spaces in the name for example? If the SSID has spaces, I would try the hidden network connection, but enclose the SSID in single quotes.
