hey guys, any idea why Gwenview doesn't show the colour correctly? I am having the same issue with spotify as well. As you can see the same images are opened in KolourPaint on the left and Gwenview on the right. Here is a link to the screenshot

screenshot of the error

I can't seem to find any similar problems online. Any idea?

From https://discuss.pixls.us/t/display-co...

A Fresh Start

First you may want to check if any kind of color management is already active on your machine, if you see the following then you’re fine:

$ xprop -display :0.0 -len 14 -root  _ICC_PROFILE
_ICC_PROFILE: no such atom on any window.

However if you see something like this, then there is already another color management system active:

$ xprop -display :0.0 -len 14 -root _ICC_PROFILE
_ICC_PROFILE(CARDINAL) = 0, 0, 72, 212, 108, 99, 109, 115, 2, 32, 0, 0, 109, 110

That said I get:

[paul@localhost ~]$ xprop -display :0.0 -len 14 -root _ICC_PROFILE
_ICC_PROFILE(CARDINAL) = 0, 0, 4, 248, 108, 99, 109, 115, 4, 48, 0, 0, 109, 110

So it does seems I got a color profile (by default!?)

Comments

It looks like you can temporarily remove the profile with (it come back after logout/login):

[paul@localhost ~]$ xprop -display :0.0 -len 14 -root -remove _ICC_PROFILE
[paul@localhost ~]$ xprop -display :0.0 -len 14 -root _ICC_PROFILE
_ICC_PROFILE:  not found.
[paul@localhost ~]$

For me, in Fedora 28 KDE, I get similar pictures.

For example, for https://www.pexels.com/photo/mt-fuji-...

I get: https://ibb.co/bMkako

I don't know much about colors, but you could try Fedora Color Management.
