Hello everybody,

I'm coming from this question here:

I have tried to install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-340xx, which is currently not available for fedora 28. So I tried to install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-390xx, which installs normally, but the nvidia driver doesn't seem to load. During boot the screen solution changes, but no nvidia splash comes up, also nvidia x-server configuration tells me, that currently no nvidia driver is executed. Does anybody know why? Where can I start looking for logfiles, etc?! Does anybody know, if the Geforce 310m is supported by this driver?

Thanks for your help. Sven

Can you paste your nvidia installer log here to confirm? You can find the logs here after you login as root (and at runlevel 3 if not possible): /var/log/nvidia-installer.log

On my system, there is no /var/log/nvidia-installer.log. I have used xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-390xx from rpmfusion: "dnf install xorg-x11-drv-nvidia-390xx". Or should there be another log anywhere else?

According to NVidia website your GPU is supported by the 340 series.

Well, but the 340 series is not available as rpm from rpmfusion, that's why I use the 390 driver. On the original question it was said, that the 340 is not available for fedora 28 currently.
