Can't open .jar

I can't open minecraft.jar. I've looked around for hours and all the files i download, all the commands i try the game never launches with java.

You might want to add the link where you have downloaded the jar, the exact command you have used and the errors that appear when you try starting the .jar. Please edit your question.

First install java

Second

java -jar minecraft.jar

Just install winrar from rarlab, you will be able to open. It requires a special software which is also known as extractor.
