I have previously asked and answered this question.

However, the answer no longer works for newer versions of matlab. I'd like to ask the question again so that it doesn't limit itself to fedora 25, and where the answer contains updated information on how to install matlab r2017b and newer.

Should i ask a new question, or just edit the old question and answer?

No idea if there is an official rule and what that would be. Since both, the version of your Fedora and the software you are trying to install have changed, I personally would ask a new question.
