SOFTWARE LIST

asked 2018-02-18 07:41:06 -0600

My OS is Fedora 27. In Software menu installed softwares are not visible. Six Categories are shown therein. If I click on any Category nothing is visible. After sometime it shows as under: failed to resolve package_ids: Error calling StartServiceByName for org.freedesktop.PackageKit: Timeout was reached.

Hope, somebody will be able to help me.

Gnome Software needs some time to download metadata in order to build the software catalogue. give it some time and check back in again later.

Run

pkcon refresh force

to update Gnome Software's metadata.

  1. Exit Software and restart the program. Sometimes this forces it to refresh the list of available software and will get it to display more quickly.

  2. Open a terminal and type dnf refresh and allow Fedora to update the software catalog.

  3. If all else fails, this should fix it: su -c 'dnf reinstall gnome-software'

dnf and Gnome Software are independent from each other. Updating dnf cache will have no impact on Gnome Software, which uses PackageKit as package manager (backend)
