I'm using it in a VM and I want to use it as my main OS.

It's a Samsung Odyssey

Some info about the hardware:

  • CPU - i7-7700HQ
  • 8GB DDR4 (I'll upgrade later)
  • Mobo - Samsung NP800G5M-XG2BR
  • Chipset - Intel HM175 (Skylake PCH-H)
  • Onboard GPU - Intel HD Graphics 630
  • Dedicated GPU - Geforce GTX 1050
  • SSD M2 WD Black 256GB (I'm planning to install both OS here) + HDD 1TB (Files and etc)
  • Audio Adapter - Intel Skylake PCH-H High Definition Audio Controller (Realtek driver)
  • Atheros/Qualcomm QCA9377 802.11ac Wireless Network Adapter
  • RealTek Semicondutor RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC

In the BIOS I have some options like Secure Boot Control (On by default) if I turn it off it gives me some choices like CSM OS, UEFI OS or CSM and UEFI OS. There's also Fast BIOS Mode (on by default) and PXE EPROM (Off by default).

If it's possible to install will I have problem finding drivers for video/audio/wifi/lan/etc?

There's the back logo and keyboard lights which I keep always off and use only the keyboard light when I'm in a dark environment, but I wouldn't mind having these lights always off for lack of driver.

And the trackpad also has some features like zoom/scrolling/etc, but I also won't miss it in case it needs driver not available for linux.

I'm only concerned about the basics and I won't use fedora for gaming.

Samsung X51 - full compatible

Use UEFI OS only to have no Windows boot problems

Hardware problems are possible even with Windows, however on the Samsung X51 (NP500) I had no problem

You will be able to find drivers that work, yes. They may not include all the features you may expect in Windows, but it'll certainly be usable.

If you need help finding a driver, ask here. Your hardware isn't extremely old and is from reputed brands. You should be fine.

Hope that helps.
