When I invoke xterm I get the above message, sometimes several times in a row.

How can I find out which font package I need to install... and why didn't it get installed as a prereq to xterm?

Thank you very much. I installed the update but I can't test it now because my Fedora 27 system is essentially useless after dnf update --best --allow-erasing as suggested by soundtouch package. Which I probably didn't even want...

Now I can't start X, and many apps were deleted. No more evolution, no more emacs, etc. Just a total disaster. I don't know how this could be possible.

I checked /usr/share/X11/fonts/misc/ not found

Not a solution but it may be that the missing font might not be available.

If you are using ctrl right-click to access the font menu multiple messages do appear.

I haven't tried using xterm at length but it seems to be working on my system f27 workstation.

Thanks and sorry for my late reply. I have been on the road for business.

I am not sure how to get the fonts installed. Do I simply untar the tarball in the /usr/share/X11/fonts directory and then do a fontconfig? This would be annoying since it would mean I would have to update manually forever.

How can we contact the xterm maintainer to ask about this?
