shrink virtual machine
hi there
i have a virtual machine with Win7 running under KVM/QEMU. Once i set this system up with a disc space of 37.5 GB, the vm is now 66 GB big. When i have a look in the Win7 control panel, there is still 37.5 GB disk size.
- how can i reduce the used space of this vm and
- how can i prevent the system from expanding?
thanks in advance Frank
What is taking up the space? Snapshots?
no, there are no snapshots. But i recognised, that always when the system (fedora) is going into sleep, also the vm gets to a paused mode. And this paused mode seems to let my vm grow. The last time it grew until there was no more space on the partition.
I don't know the answer by I would start by investigating what is taking up so much space. I suppose you could destroy the machine and recycle the hard drive .
