Hi everyone, i am new on fedora and linux. I tried to install Fedora 26 live 26 from a DVD, in a workstation with a SSD 250 GG and SATA 2T disk installed. An I am facing two main issues, and need HELP !!!

1st- Though, despite that ANaconda went well during the auto-installation, I wanted to create the partitions manually, but it seems that, the install only ´sees´ the SSD disk.... during the installation process. So I don´t know if the fact that I had mede an automatic installation is preventing to ´see´the second disk). My goal was to create several dev/sda for: boot, / , /root and /SWAP and place the /home only in the second disk of two 2TERA. There is no much info on how to carry this with Anaconda for F26, unless my installer is not working properly.

2nd- I wanted to use a different deskopt environment that GNOME, and so after the automatic installation for the Fe26-Live.iso DVD and tried to follow the instructions depicted on

https://fedoraproject.org/wiki/SwitchingDesktopEnvironments

but waht I got was this:

[susana@xtal1-d160-2 ~]$ dnf grouplist -v Loaded plugins: builddep, config-manager, copr, debug, debuginfo-install, download, generatecompletioncache, needs-restarting, playground, repoclosure, repograph, repomanage, reposync DNF version: 2.5.1 cachedir: /var/tmp/dnf-susana-cy65sasu Cannot download 'https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/metalink?repo=updates-released-f26&arch=x86 64': Cannot prepare internal mirrorlist: Curl error (28): Timeout was reached for https://mirrors.fedoraproject.org/met...64 [Connection timed out after 30002 milliseconds]. Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'updates' [susana@xtal1-d160-2 ~]$ sudo dnf install @kde-desktop-environment

We trust you have received the usual lecture from the local System Administrator. It usually boils down to these three things:

#1) Respect the privacy of others.
#2) Think before you type.
#3) With great power comes great responsibility.

[sudo] password for susana: Sorry, try again. [sudo] password for susana: Sorry, try again. [sudo] password for susana: Error: Failed to synchronize cache for repo 'updates' [susana@xtal1-d160-2 ~]$

My net connection was working, but maybe three is a problem with the firewall.

I tried several times now, and after a couple of hours passed by, but the problem still remains. Even tryed dnf --refresh as based from a previous troubleshooting ticket1

Can someone help me out on this? Thanks Susana

The first error was that you weren't typing your password correctly. Assuming that you got it right on the third try, dnf wasn't able to connect to the updates repo to find out if there were any packages available for updating your system. This happens from time to time, and about all you can do is try again later. If the issue doesn't clear up, we can look further into it.

You are right, Doing automatic installation you don't get to choose the disk partition layout.

When you prefer a different desktop environment, it is easier to start with the special spin for that environment. Here spin means a different download taylormade for a specific purpuse, for example a different desktop environment.
