hp 2740p elitebook fan control issues in 26
Hi, thanks for checking out my problem: My laptop fan never stops. Now, the fan is noisy and will need replacement but will still need to be properly set up. Elsewhere was said to do with acpi in the BIOS, not sure if that went right. lm_sensors led to the coretemp module. Running "pwnconfig" says no module found. It's the only major problem I've had but would be a deal breaker if it's not possible to work with my system. Thanks again and, please, let me know what other details are needed. -ASV

44 °C is not that much, but it might be enough to keep the fan spinning. Over time fans and thermal compounds degrades, so they might not be able to provide sufficient cooling.
Blow some compressed air into fan intake and exhaust. If you'll be exchanging the fan, replace also thermal compound under heat-sink. I'm using Arctic-Cooling MX-4, it has good performace-price ratio.
Update BIOS and look through
dmesg
output, pay attention to messages in bold or red.
