After rebooting my home server I am no longer able to boot it normally. It comes up saying that I am in emergency mode however it doesn't give the prompt to enter my root password.

When trying to boot into single user mode it shows me a bunch of failures. Failed to start Configure read-only root support Failed to start Create Static Device Modes in ... ....

Eventually it gets back to the Emergency mode but it doesn't give me prompt again for root password.

I am running:

OS: Fedora 25 server

LVM for / and swap

/ = XFS

I can boot a fedora live os and mount the LVM / partition and have also run xfs_repair. Everything seems ok. I am not sure what to do now and would like to ask if anyone has encountered this before?

Have you tried running the suggested command? I think it is journalctl -xe. I think there is also an sosreport.txt generated somewhere which would be useful.
