Hello

I just upgraded from F22 to F23 and now I have a problem while booting my ocmputer. It says "unknown controller version (3). You may experience problems" and then it enters the emergency mode. When i press ctrl+D to exit this mode i have "Fail to start default. target : Transaction is destructive"

I am a complete newbie when it comes to computer, I am virtually unable to program anything and i go away with fedora using tutorial on the web but I couldn't find any. Just to say that it may be a very easy to solve problem i just don't know...

Thank you for reading :)

If you type unknown controller version (3) into Google you will get several results. One of them is https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.... which suggest following as a work around:

Of course a workaround is to blacklist the relevant modules.

blacklist sdhci-pci
blacklist sdhci
blacklist mmc_core

in /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf.

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.... mentions, that the message is a warning only, and that your real problem is something else. That is, that the system went into emergency mode for a different reason, and not because of this message.

It could be anything, It would be almost be impossible to do a remote diagnosis. Perhaps you really should do a fresh install of fedora 26.

Fedora 23 is EndOfLife long time ago. Please download a new fedora copy and make a fresh install.

As a "complete newbie" how did you even find Fedora 23? (Just wondering.)

Old Fedora versions are not lighter or faster than new versions, that's dependent mostly on the "Desktop Enviroment". The LXDE, LXQT and XFCE Spins of Fedora 26 are very light and fast.

OP states that this was an upgrade from F22 to F23.
