i've just installed Fedora 26 Workstation 64 Bit on my laptop and its specs goes like: CPU: Intel® Core™2 CPU T7200 @ 2.00GHz × 2 RAM: 3 GBs GPU: Intel Mobile 945GM - 256 HDD: 120 GBs and i was running Windows 10 64 Bit smoothly before Fedora 26 the issue i have with F26 is my graphic card in Unknown and i face FPS lagging although i installed intel graphic drivers and i did everything too far but still GPU is unknown with laggy FPS P.S. I Am A Newbie To This Things so Please Be Simple

What have you installed for graphics drivers?! Actually, you should NOT install anything for the graphics card! And if you have installed something, it can be problematic! Why do you say that 'GPU is unknown'?!

You have to install intel driver from Fedora's repositories and not from elsewhere. Although, during installation, these drivers have to be automatically installed.

Give us the output of:

dnf list installed |grep drv-

01.org drivers are OK if there installed correctly just unnecessary. I've never seen an improvement when using them.

Intel is not like Nvidia where the official proprietary drivers can give a big performance boost.

Oh ok, so it's videos, YouTube etc. you really need to say that kind of thing in the question. (So you know for next time.)

It may be because it's not using your GPU to help take pressure of the CPU, the video acceleration packages aren't installed by default.

You may just need to install the VDPAU package from the RPMFusion repository.

Instructions and RPM files to add RPMFusion are here. RPMFusion is for files with tricky licensing, like codecs and closed source drivers like Nvidia.

Just note that the drivers in 01.org are not proprietary! They are the same as the open source one. But their version might differ, and they might not contain some Fedora patches! Anyway, they are usually useless at best.

I know there not. I could have worded it better but didn't think it as a big deal. Drivers directly from Intel vs drivers directly from Nvidia.

That's a very common GPU so it should be running pretty much as well as possible without any additional work. Linux doesn't always need you to install drivers for GPU and other hardware, it uses them automatically from the Kernel.

The desktop enviroment which your using is called Gnome 3 and it's the most GPU, CPU and RAM hungry interface used by Linux and recommended for more modern PCs

You could try installing a light desktop enviroment and it should give a big performance boost (but a more simple look.) LXQT, LXDE and XFCE use much less CPU, GPU and RAM (around 20% as much RAM as Gnome 3 and almost no CPU/GPU.) You can simply install them then select them from the login screen before you login.

Open dnfdragora and search for the packages and install them from there.

My own CPU is a bit older (T7100 @ 1.8GHz), but I have 4GiB RAM, and Gnome shell is not 'laggy'.

First of all thank you guys for replying very quick i really appreciate that.... second i did not installed anything but the official drivers for intel thro the official installer from 01.org but stil Graphics: Unknown in settings system details whatever... its running good and fast pretty smooth when its about RAM and CPU performance i can tell its just videos like YouTube etc but i dont have any games i just formatted my HDD but i, pretty sure its the drivers...so is there anyway to choose the default driver for the system to use? Thank Y'all for your sincere replies

You should have not installed anything, including the one provided at 01.org . Did you have the same problem before installing that? Also, where do you see "Graphics: Unknown"?

i did installed the rpmfusion already..but i dunno about that VDPAU and i don't even know how to install it i Did pretty much everything its been days and days jumping around in the forums and i did every suggestion even downloaded every desktop environment from fedora (Downloaded Almost 45 GBs till now)

I GAVE UP..THANK Y'ALL

If I had known it was just video lag it would have been the first thing I recommended. You can just search vdpau in dnfdragora . If your using Firefox you also turn video acceleration about:config
