I installed Fedora 26 on a new HP Laptop, however the in-built WiFi card from realtek isn't working at all. I don't even see the WiFi device in the network settings.

As far as I understand - it is a driver issue, I am unable to find out the driver for this.

It is a composite Bluetooth/WLAN adapter. Bluetooth seems to work fine with the stock drivers. The laptop's ethernet controller is also from realtek but that works seemlessly.

dmesg:

[ 1.803973] usb 1-4: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=b009
[ 1.803975] usb 1-4: New USB device strings: Mfr=1, Product=2, SerialNumber=3
[ 1.803977] usb 1-4: Product: 802.11n WLAN Adapter
[ 1.803978] usb 1-4: Manufacturer: Realtek

lspci:

03:00.0 Network controller: Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. Device d723

lsusb:

Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0bda:b009 Realtek Semiconductor Corp.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

If you have an ethernet port try updating your kernel and installing any wifi and realtek firmware packages (search them in yum extender or dnf dragora.) It may not work but worth a try before doing fiddly annoying stuff.

I have done the upgrade (Current kernel is 4.12.5-300.fc26.x86_64). Unfortunately dnf search doesn't provide any realtek related package. Any specific dnf/yum repo I need to enable/add ?

Would you please provide the output of the following command: lspci -vnn | grep -A 20 -i wireless

And:

dmesg | grep -i realte
dmesg | grep -i "wireless\|wlan"

According to this page the chip is a RTL8723DU and uses the same firmware as the RTL8812BU chip.

https://wikidevi.com/wiki/RealtekRTL8812BUUSB_Module

It also says it doesn't have a Kernel driver (which is to be expected with it not working.)

The latest linux-firmware package has files named rtl8812ae_fw.bin and rtl8723fw.bin You should already have it but check, dnf install linux-firmware
