Hi, I just bough a new webcam (Microsoft LifeCam Cinema), but it fails to work on boot, but works (atleast now after reconnecting it!)

Here is the relevant part of dmesg: (I'm running Fedora 26, with the latest updates installed: Linux workstation 4.11.11-300.fc26.x86_64 #1 SMP Mon Jul 17 16:32:11 UTC 2017 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Maybe a firmware upgrade will help, although you'll need a windows PC for that https://www.microsoft.com/accessories...

Win 10 iso's are freely available on MS' site, so you could download one, install trial (without providing liclense key) in VM and try to upgrade firmware. To download win 7 iso you'd need a license key.

I'd suggest updating your kernel, and report as a bug if problem persists.
