Can't bind mouse button keys to shortcut.

So I was looking at this post from a while ago, and it showed how you could bind the extra mouse button keys some mouses have to a shortcut.

I have two buttons at the side of my mouse and want to bind them to go one desktop up and down as I like using multiple desktops.

So I bound "Switch one desktop up" to 'Shift + Alt + Up' and down to 'Shift + Alt + Down' in the global keyboard shortcuts.

This worked fine when I pressed Shift Alt Up it would go one up and the other way works as well. But when I used xbindkeys to bind the button 8 and 9 to Shift alt up and down, it didn't work.

This is the script I used in gedit ~/.xbindkeysrc:

"xdotool key Shift+Alt+Up"
release + b:9
"xdotool key Shift+Alt+Down"
release + b:8

Does anyone know how I can make this work or any easier option?

Removed, reinstalled and rebooted. It works perfectly now.
